Last weekend there was the famous “Weinfest der Mittelmosel” (winefestival of the Mosel river) at Bernkastel-Kues. More than hundred thousand people joint the festival to taste the latest wine from the area from Thursday to Monday. A perfect place to have fun and meet old friends or make new ones. On Saturday there was a big firework from the riverside and from top of the old castel. For the first time with music this year.

We are hoping to visit the bernkastel wine festival in 2007.
What dates does the festival run over, please?

The offical website still shows this years program. But the festival takes place the first weekend in September. It’s starting on a Thursday, the offical opening will be on Friday and the festival will go on until Monday. So the dates 2007 will be 30th of August till 3th of September. These are also the dates given by the calender of events ( http://www.ferienportal.net/ortKalender/5457/?ortID=4109 ). For further information try to contact the
Mosel-Gäste-Zentrum (Tourist-Information) in Bernkastel ( http://www.bernkastel.de ).
It’s really amazing. So you should try to make it. Especially the Saturday with the fireworks and the Sunday with the traditional costume procession (parade, don’t know the best term) presenting the wine queens from all the villages around.
